New rating for one of our wines by the Wine Advocate
Robert
Parker's wines guide
Pierre de Tuf 2007
90 POINTS
Given the quality of Domaine de la Noblaie’s old‐vines 2007 Chinon Pierre de Tuf, I was sorry not to have had time this year to meet 24‐year‐old proprietor Jerome Billard, whose resume includes stints at both Chateau Petrus and Dominus. Mulberry, cassis, and blond Virginia and burley tobaccos in the nose migrate onto a seamlessly structured, polished, cinnamon‐ and cocoa‐tinged palate, accompanied by deep, marrowy richness and piquant toasted hickory and walnut oil. A hint of salt adds to the wine’s saliva‐inducing finishing savor.
This is hard to resist now – and one shouldn’t – but will probably age gracefully for another 3‐5 years.

New reviews from the Wine Spectator, titled : "18 unique French reds"
"Solid producers
from the heart of the Loire's red wine regions[...]include Domaine de
la Noblaie, Frederic Mabileau and Thierry Germain."
DOMAINE DE LA NOBLAIE Pierre de Tuf 2007 Score: 90
This has layers of crushed, velvety plum, currant and fig
fruit, liberally laced with maduro tobacco, tapenade and iron notes. The long
finish lets it all weave together nicely, while the racy acidity leaves a
mouthwatering feel. Drink now through 2011. 100 cases imported. —J.M.
DOMAINE DE LA NOBLAIE Les Chiens-Chiens 2007 Score: 89
Very bright, with a mouthwatering, chalky spine that holds
the cherry and cherry pit, tobacco and red licorice notes together nicely.
There's nice focus on the finish. Drink now through 2011. 600 cases imported.
—J.M.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar's Tasting notes
- les Chiens-Chiens 2007
90 POINTS
Bright ruby. Intensely
perfumed scents of raspberry preserves, rose and violet, along with a hint of
cracked pepper. Strikingly pure and refreshingly taut, with bright red and dark
berry and bitter cherry flavors and a seamless texture. With its noteworthy
energy and finishing floral notes, this reminds me of pinot noir. Drinkable
now but I'd hold onto it for a couple more years.
- Pierre de Tuf 2007
89 (+) POINTS
Inky ruby. Far more
backward than the Chiens-Chiens, offering deep dark berry, cherry pit and
licorice aromas and a suggestion of smoky Indian spices. Packs a serious punch
and shows a brooding dark-fruit personality that's slow to unfold. Aeration
brings out more sweetness and this clearly possesses impressive material but
it's a tough read today. More expressive on the finish, which leaves sweet
cherry and cassis notes behind. Hands off.
- La Noblaie blanc 2007
89 POINTS
Bright straw. Lively
aromas of lemon zest, orange, green apple and lemongrass. Taut, finely etched
citrus and floral flavors show very good clarity thanks to brisk minerality and
a hint of bitter quinine. Many white Chinons show a soft, even flat character
but this is quite energetic, with the structure and nerviness to suggest that
it will reward a few years of patience.

extra length. Solid.

rating for one of our wines by the Wine Advocate
Robert
Parker's wines guide
Les
Chiens-Chiens 2007
87 POINTS "Jerome Billard – who spent
time working for the Mouiexes at both Petrus and Dominus – has crafted a
single-site 2007 Chinon Les Chiens – Chiens (raised in older barrels) that
smells of blackberries, charred red meat, coffee, and pungent herbs. Polished on
the palate; surprisingly dense, and with underlying firmness; its combination of
bitter black fruit and herbal essences and saline, savory-meaty undertones
offers modest but satisfying persistence. Like most of the Loire Cabernet Francs
of this vintage, I would plan to enjoy this wine on the young side, in this
instance within the next 12-18 months." David Schildknech

terroir historique de l'A.O.C. Chinon, le Vau Breton, exploité
par l'accueillante famille Manzagol-Billard. Jérôme, 27
ans, est aux commandes. Des Chinons très purs comme les Blancs
Manteaux 2005."
